Ed Stanistreet wraps up 2017 after a year to remember

Ed Stanistreet, General Manager of Toyota Fleet Management, wraps up the year that’s been.

As the year comes to a close, I’d like to take a moment to look back over 2017, as well as thank our customers and staff for turning a year of change into a year of success.

2017 will be remembered as the year vehicle manufacturing ended in Australia. Fortunately, Toyota anticipated the change and successfully transitioned to a sales and distribution company, with new headquarters in Melbourne. This is a major milestone for Toyota and we look forward to supporting them on this journey.

Toyota Fleet Management has also had a landmark year. In October we celebrated 10 years of the Toyota Fleet Management (TFM) brand in Australia. During that time, our business volume, profit and fleet size has increased by over 300% across various categories – a massive achievement for our team and one which I am very proud of.

The biggest focus this year for TFM has been the move towards connected mobility. We launched several new products, including ForceField Telematics™ and Car Sharing. These complement existing technology in our product portfolio, such as our Driver Direct Application. They also enhance the support we have for Fleet Managers as we strive to better connect them with their drivers and vehicles.

The car sharing economy is our other area of growth, and we’re doing lots of work trialling short-term vehicle rentals. We see this as an exciting development area and one which we will continue to focus on in 2018.

Personally, my most fulfilling moment has been working closer with our partners abroad. It’s been great learning about European and North American fleet industry trends, and how they will likely impact us in the Australian market.

So that’s 2017 in a nutshell. To the Toyota Fleet Management staff who have had to manage strong growth and changing technology throughout the year, thank you for all your hard work.

And last but certainly not least, to our customers – thank you for your continued support and the relationships we’ve had the pleasure of developing.

Wishing a very merry Christmas to you all, and a successful 2018.
