How small businesses can prosper with the right advice Fleet Sales Manager Justin Dolman is a born problem solver. He thrives on getting to know a customer’s business and providing solutions to make their lives easier.
With a background in the golf industry through his 20 years at Bridgestone, Justin Dolman traded the clubhouse for the TFM office four years ago.
As a salesman, Justin is a people person. That’s why he fully embraces TFM’s mantra of ‘respect for people’, both internally and externally. Justin also believes it’s important to advise customers on managing and financing their assets simply and clearly. He says it’s no longer about the dollars and cents – it’s about collaborating and communicating openly – explaining why you’re doing what you’re doing. We asked Justin to expand on his approach.
What does your role entail? I work with a portfolio of customers to see where I can add value. To do this, I need to understand the customer’s needs, such as types of vehicles and servicing requirements. I also work with Toyota dealerships to promote TFM’s products and services.
Do you have any words of wisdom? To be a great fleet sales manager you not only need to support your customers, but recommend new ways to grow their business. It’s all part of nurturing the relationship.
What do you like about working for TFM? Every day is different with a diverse range of challenges to face. It’s never boring.
How do you feel you’ve grown? As the industry has evolved, I’ve learned to become more patient and understanding.
What motivates you? Definitely my kids. I love seeing them grow.
At work, what’s a time you feel you’ve added value? Aged Care Housing owned 100 vehicles which they managed internally. After initially being hesitant, they gave us full management of their fleet. They are now really appreciative of our help.
What does leadership mean to you? Leadership is not ruling with an iron fist. It’s about bringing people together to achieve success.
What’s something about you that nobody knows? I once saved an 18 month old baby from drowning. I was playing golf and saw something floating in the dam. I jumped in, pulled him out and started CPR.
