TFM’s Krystle Fishwick makes novated leasing crystal clear
As South Australia fleet dealer manager, Krystle Fishwick is responsible for and educating dealers on the benefits of finance products. She loves her job and turning people’s opinions around – including that of one certain business manager who shut her down (more on that later).
From her early days as a relationship manager in 2009, Krystle has come a long way. She now supports the dealer network by increasing sales, while providing mentorship, structure and targets to spur her team on.
We spoke to Krystle about her role at TFM, and asked her to explain novated leasing once and for all.
Firstly, what’s a novated lease?
It’s a three-way agreement between TFM, you and your employer. Your employer pays for your car lease and running costs, which comes out of your salary through a combination of pre-tax and post-tax deductions.
What are the benefits for employees?
You get a market-leading rate with no hidden fees or charges. You could save thousands on the purchase price and running costs on a new or used car. It also allows you to drive the car you want – not just a Toyota. And the monthly payment is taken out of your salary before you see it, so you don’t need to think about repayments.
What about rego and CTP insurance?
It’s all included in your lease. When you get your renewal notice, just send it to TFM for payment.
What happens at the end of the lease?
You have three options. You can extend your contract, return the car and pay what’s owing, or offer to buy the car.
Apart from novated leasing, what motivates you every day?
I am naturally a sales focused, target driven kind of girl. My colleagues and my fiancé push me to excel in anything I do.
Given your experience, what words of wisdom can you give?
Be persistent. Be patient and build relationships. This will drive your success both personally and professionally.
Finally, can you describe a situation where you’ve added value?
I was running novated lease training and a business manager shut me down, saying he didn’t like the product. After the meeting I persevered, educating him on the benefits. I must have done a good job, as he’s not only a big advocate of novated leasing, he is now my fiancé!
