James Bridekirk

Citing the implementation of a fleet management system as the achievement that defines his career, James Bridekirk spearheaded TFM’s transformation to become the customer-centric business it is today.

James Bridekirk has been in fleet his entire career, joining Toyota Fleet Management as a relationship manager in 2006. Now Head of Strategy and Product Support, James is responsible for thinking about where the business is heading, harnessing technology and looking to the future with a strong focus on connected mobility.

Back in his early days, TFM was known as Toyota Financial Services. But thanks to a pivotal project that took 3.5 years to implement, James and his team can now provide a complete product offering that lets the customer set and forget and get back to their business.

So what was the project all about? James explains.

“The transformation project was essentially the fleet management system that’s behind all the products TFM offers today. We removed all the manual processes, brought everything under one roof and streamlined it. It was around that time we re-established the business as Toyota Fleet Management.”

We asked James a few questions about how the implementation has changed TFM’s business.

How can TFM benefit customers?

Bringing everything together has been a great solution for customers. By looking after all the admin we take away the hassle.

What’s a fully maintained product?

It means that all running costs, like maintenance and servicing, are bundled into one monthly payment. We can even cover rego, CTP and insurance – almost any expense associated with running a fleet vehicle.

Do you have to take the fully maintained product?

No. Some customers don’t want the full service, as they have their own management processes that are working well. So we can help with other things like purchasing and disposing of vehicles.

You have been with TFM for 12 years now, what has kept you here?

I love the people and the friendships I’ve developed. We’ve grown as a business through the people, not acquisitions.
